In Sept 2022, just after COVID, a client came to us experiencing supply issue with their current supply. The belt is attached to an arm and is being used to grab and emptying waste for council trucks.

Issues with the current product:

The original design was made from conveyor belt material with minimal surface contact and too hard, which cannot hold the bin securely in place due to slippage while it is in operation. The team received many complaints from the drivers, especially in winter, where there is a build up of frost on the bins and the driver experiences bins slipping from the device while in operation.
Belt is attached to the handle which could cause further slips if it is not securely attached.

Belt and grab handle designed as 1 piece to improve the functionality and reduce any slippage
New belt design to increase the surface contact area thus reduce the bin slippage during operation.

Delivery/ Completion

Design, Tooling and delivery of the first samples was completed in 3 months.
The team tested the belt with over 100,000 lifts and was satisfied with the outcome.
Project completed within 4 months
We have been supplying these belts successfully for more than 2 years with increased life and performance with no issues to report.
